I'm not insane!
...What makes you think that?
Is it the way I think or the way I act?

If we were friends
I know you would see
That we're not so different, you and me.

I smile when I'm happy
Screech when I'm mad
Cry when I'm alone -
and hate when I'm sad.

I hide my emotions
Behind a cheshire smile
And never let myself open to wit and wile.

This is who I am
Who I will always be
A lost girl who seems drowned in insanity.

I don't care any more
What you may think
About who I am
Or the words that I speak!
Based on a roleplaying character of mine, Lianne. This is basically told from her viewpoint about herself and how she doesn't care what the world thinks of her, for she's who she is and sees no point in changing what she cannot.

Lianne is a very interesting character that I use in a RPG with my best friend. Lianne's 'slightly' insane, seeing things from a very different viewpoint from other people due to childhood trauma. Thanks to her, insanity is one of my favorate topics to muse about. What exactly makes a person insane? What's the definition of insanity? Can a person chose to be insane, or does it happen unwillingly? *sighs* I could go on and on about my ponderings...

Anyways ^^; Comment and criticism, please!! I rarely write poetry, so I'd like to know what people think ;)

EDIT: Removed the last stanza and fixed up some spelling mistakes - I think it flows better now.

I greatly enjoyed the poem, it is the same sort of thing I argue except from the opposite way of saying it. I say we are all insane, as insanity is "a deviation from the normal" there is no normal ergo we're all insane to some degree. I love the idea of her saying you and I arn't all that different even though you think me mad.
